Fine Art Portrait Commission

Overview

A Fine Art Portrait Commission is not a standard photography session. It is a private portrait commission resulting in one finished physical artwork: a museum-grade fine-art print, signed, embossed, and delivered as a collectible object.

The purpose of this commission is to create a portrait that exists as a physical piece, not as a collection of digital files.

Description

The Fine Art Portrait Commission is designed for clients who want a portrait with the presence, permanence, and value of an artwork.

The commission includes creative direction, a private portrait sitting, careful image selection, professional retouching, fine-art printing, signature, embossing, and a certificate of authenticity.

The final result is one finished physical portrait, produced as a unique artwork.

High-resolution digital files, printable files, RAW files, unedited images, alternate images, and the full gallery from the sitting are not included and will not be released.

A low-resolution digital reference of the final artwork may be provided for personal online sharing only.

Ideal for

Private collectors, artists, gallerists, curators, founders, patrons, families wanting a legacy portrait, and individuals who value physical artwork over disposable digital files.

Included

Each commissioned portrait is treated as a collectible fine-art piece, personally overseen by the artist from the first consultation to the final print.

The commission includes a pre-shoot consultation, creative direction, a private portrait sitting, and artist-led image selection with a curated presentation of 3 to 5 candidate portraits. One final portrait is then meticulously refined through professional retouching and prepared for museum-grade fine-art printing.

Every print is produced using archival museum-quality papers selected specifically for the individual artwork, ensuring the surface, texture, tonal depth, and color rendition complement the image itself. The artist personally supervises the entire printing process, including paper selection, color calibration, tonal accuracy, and final quality control, to ensure the finished piece reflects the intended artistic vision with precision and permanence.

The final artwork is signed, embossed and accompanied by a certificate of authenticity. Under proper conditions, the print is designed to retain its quality for up to 100 years. A low-resolution web-use reference image of the final artwork for personal online sharing, along with custom artwork packaging, is also included.

Not Included

The commission does not include high-resolution digital files, printable digital files, RAW files, unedited images, the full gallery from the session, alternate edited images, commercial usage rights, additional prints unless agreed in writing, framing unless selected as an add-on, hair, makeup, wardrobe, styling, location rental, props, permits, transport, or assistants unless agreed in writing.

Final Deliverable

The final deliverable is one finished physical artwork.

Standard deliverable:

One fine-art print up to 50 × 70 cm or similar size, signed and embossed by the artist, delivered with a certificate of authenticity.

A low-resolution web-use reference file may be provided, maximum 2000 px on the long side, for personal online sharing only.

•Optional Upgrades

Optional upgrades may include larger print size, framing, museum glass or acrylic, custom mounting, bespoke presentation box, additional artist-approved prints only if agreed before production, on-location production, hair and makeup, wardrobe styling, or larger creative production.

•Edition Structure

Unless otherwise agreed in writing, each Fine Art Portrait Commission is produced as a unique 1/1 commissioned artwork.

No additional prints of the same final image will be produced for the client, third parties, or public sale unless agreed in writing before production.

The artist may retain one artist proof or archive copy for portfolio, exhibition, publication, award submission, or personal archive purposes, unless exclusivity is purchased or otherwise agreed in writing.

•Digital File Policy

The Fine Art Portrait Commission is a print-first commission. The artwork exists as a finished physical object.

To preserve the value, scarcity, and integrity of the work, high-resolution digital files are not released.

The client receives a low-resolution digital reference of the final artwork for personal online sharing only. This file may not be printed, edited, reproduced, resold, licensed, submitted to third parties, used commercially, or used for press, advertising, websites, branding, or publications without written permission.

No RAW files, unedited files, contact sheets, behind-the-scenes captures, alternate takes, or printable files are included or available as part of this commission.

Client Selection Process

After the sitting, the artist reviews the work and presents a small curated selection of 3 to 5 candidate portraits.

The client selects one final portrait from this curated selection. That portrait is then retouched, printed, signed, embossed, and delivered as the final artwork.

The artist does not provide the full gallery from the session. The selection process is part of the artistic direction of the commission.

Retouching

Retouching is included for the final selected portrait only.

The retouching style is refined and natural, with attention to skin, tone, expression, texture, and overall artistic finish.

Excessive body reshaping, unrealistic skin smoothing, major compositing, background replacement, or heavy alterations are not included unless agreed in writing.

One round of reasonable retouching adjustments is included before print production.

Once the artwork is approved for print, further changes may require an additional fee.

Client Usage Rights

The client purchases the physical artwork, not the copyright.

Copyright remains with Luca Lombardi unless transferred in writing under a separate agreement.

The client may display the physical artwork privately in their home, office, studio, or personal space.

The low-resolution web-use file may be used for personal online sharing only, with the Photographer mentioned where appropriate.

The image may not be used for commercial, advertising, business, press, editorial, website, publication, book, catalogue, gallery, NFT, AI training, reproduction, resale, or licensing purposes without written permission.

Artist Usage

Unless agreed otherwise in writing, the artist may use the final portrait and selected behind-the-scenes material for portfolio, website, social media, exhibitions, competitions, awards, interviews, press, printed portfolio, and promotional use.

For private clients requiring confidentiality, privacy restrictions or full confidentiality can be discussed before booking and may affect the commission fee.
